But Pinoys were rather impressed when Dubai also joins in on the celebration, displaying the Philippine flag on the world-famous Burj Khalifa which is the tallest skyscraper in the world.

Pinoys watching on the ground and on their computers erupted in cheers as the building lit up the flag’s colors – and a light show also followed, earning praise from the entire Filipino community.

But that’s not all! The huge LED screen on the Dubai Festival City Mall featured a full display of several Filipino icons who brought pride and honor to the country in the international scene.

Maraming Salamat Dubai Festival City Mall for partnering with us - the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Philippine Independence Day 2019 Committee - on this special day for all Filipinos…” wrote Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes on his official Facebook page, as he led the ribbon cutting and ceremony at the mall.

It certainly gives all the Filipinos something to be proud of, something to be joyous about… at the end of the day, nobody is just Filipino or Emirati or Africans or Europeans but we're ALL human beings.
